The Masters touch!

The following is taken from John chapter 13:7-10

Jesus answered and said to him, ‘What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.’ Peter said to Him, ‘You shall never wash my feet!’ Jesus answered him, ‘If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.’

It is clear from this passage, according to Jesus Himself, that Peter did not understand what Jesus was about to do. Can you imagine the actual physical touch of the Master while He was still yet a man? Or what transferred through His hand into the very core of Peter’s being? The first hand touch and living experience of the unfathomable love of God! Which in essence said, ‘It’s not that I won’t have anything to do with you; it’s that if you maintain that position, and won’t allow me to touch you; your not having anything to do with Me. Peter, if you won’t allow me to touch your life, on a daily basis, how will you go into the world and do likewise? Will you wash the world, your friends, and your loved ones with the towel of hypocrisy? Only to dry them with the rag of self-effort and obligatory obedience? In other words, how will you touch them if you won’t allow Me to touch you? And how will you love them if your not experiencing my love for you? Peter, you must allow Me to touch you daily, that you may feel My presence and experience the power of My love for you firsthand. Peter, you must make allowance for the Master’s touch.’

Author’s note:

My friends, if we view Jesus washing the disciples feet as just some external picture of an example we are to follow in regards to loving one another, I believe we are missing the point in one of the most beautiful passages in scripture…the Master’s touch!

God bless you all!
